My Husband Brought Home A Stripper

If you are a regular reader of my blog, and I hope you are, you know that we are in the middle to replacing the hardwood flooring in about 1/3 of our home, repainting and decorating the dining room and completely redoing our half bath.  That means a whole lota demo.

But just look at how fast my husband is ripping out this flooring, he is a blur.

The floor was coming up easily but all the adhesive was stuck securely concrete flooring underneath.

The old flooring filled up the entire bed of my husband’s truck.  And of course we hauling it off to the recycling center of our local dump, you know how I love the dump.

After hand scrapping only a small portion of the dining room my husband decided there must be a better way to get all the adhesive off of the concrete.  And it has always been our experience that if there is a job we don’t want  to do by hand someone rents a machine to do the jobs.  So that is when my husband brought home a stripper.

And here she is.  She made short work of all that adhesive and the thin set and grout from the tile in the bathroom but she was very noisy.

And since the girls don’t like noisy vibrating tools they spent the day hiding out in my bedroom venturing out only when it became quiet.

Next, the flooring goes down.

  1. hmmm, this gives me an idea. I'm going through the same mess (installing new flooring) and when I pulled up the carpet I came across this: http://maehood.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-frugal-is-too-frugal.html I wonder if I can use a stripper like the one your husband brought home and put her to work for me! It's not scraping up great unless it's wet. I'm tired of wet! Good luck with your floors! Can't wait to see the end results!

  2. Sometimes a man just has to have a stripper. So good that you and the girls were understanding.

  3. This is getting exciting. Can't wait to see how it progresses. Poor babies stuck in your room though. Nothing will clear a room faster than loud machinery. :)

  5. You are sooo lucky you were able to find one of those!!! We tried and treid but nobody had one. After renting some other kind of tool that sands it off we decided it took wayyyy tooo long and was far tooo messsy so tomorrow the pros are coming in and finishing the cleaning up of the after math and releveling for us and then they will come back and finish glueing down what we have not yet. It is soooo worth the quote we got and it was far less than we though so we jumped at the chance of having our house back!!
Hope y'all get finished soon! We can share pics!:)
