Sale Anxieties

I am far to familiar with the anxiety that comes with putting up a “For Sale” in my yard.  Even though it has been more than 6 years since I have had to sell a home the memories are or should I say, the trauma is still with me.

All the questions that come to you in the middle of the night.  Have we set the price right?  Did we pick the right real estate agent?  Will anyone want to buy our house?  Do we need to replace the mail box before the open house?
But who knew I would be so riddled with anxiety upon hearing that our neighbors were moving and they are selling their house.  Not just any neighbors, our next door neighbors.  The neighbors we share a fence with.  The house that is less than 40 feet from my kitchen.  Just typing this is causing my anxiety to increase.

But at least we are not faced with this sign, our former neighbors are being transferred.  Thank goodness the house is not in foreclosure.  Still we are worried.  And now we are faced with a whole new set of questions in the middle of the night.  How long will the house be on the market, how long will it be empty?  Will the yard and pool be maintained after they move out?  Who will be our new neighbors in the house 40 feet from my kitchen?  Will they like us?  Will they like our dogs?

Hopefully it will not be too long before we are looking at a SOLD sign next door and our questions are answered.  So until the next post about the sale of the home neighboring ours I will leave you with this sign to lighten your day.

And the question, what is a used cow?
Thanks for reading and Happy New Year,

  1. I agree it is a scary time. We've been so fortunate through the last eleven years that the 2 homes that have sold went to lovely folks who basically slid right into the way our neighborhood works and every one is happy. I realize it may not always be that way and in trying to think ahead I am prepared to do some pretty fencing around the entire front with a remote controlled gate. The back is already done.
That of course wont spare us from a group of messy bessys so dont maintain their yard or with BIG DOGS who are allowed to roam or kids of any age:) I am wishing the greatest neighbors ever for you. Just keep seeing them in your mind- positive thoughts manifest positive results:)
good Luck and happy new year

  2. I hope you get some wonderful new neighbors. I live on a street with a lot of old folks and I worry every time one of them gets sick-we already had one move to a care facility and let's just say the people who bought her house , don't care much for yard work.

  3. Thankfully, I have never been in this situation, and wish you the best. I can't imagine having a neighbor like you, and not liking them, or their pets. I hope you get wonderful neighbors, and I wish you a very Happy New Year! I look forward to blogging with you in 2012.

  4. Oh, I can seriously relate. Just the word draws me into an anxiety attack. Take really good care of yourself. I got really, really sick after one move and I know it was from stress. Couldn't eat or sleep so you don't do that!! It won't change a thing so take care of yourself and remember that it's only a house. You can make a home anywhere. Big squeezy hugs to you, Marla

  5. Oh Tracy, I can't believe I misunderstood. I thought both homes are for sale. This medication I'm on makes me a day late and a dollar short, that's for sure. Relaxes my brain too much :)
